New year’s eve Romanian party

In my neighbourhood since 16.00 p.m. the grill were hot. Every 20 feet, towers of smoke raise up. I refuse to talk you about the smell. From time to time, cracks have been hearing just to remind me that tonight we are party the 2008.
According to Wikipedia, the 2008 is “2008 (MMVIII) is a leap year starting on Tuesday of the Anno Domini (common) era, in accordance with the Gregorian calendar.”
2008 has been designated as:
* International Year of Planet Earth;[1]
* European Year of Intercultural Dialogue;[2]
* Australian Year of the Scout;[3]
* International Year of the Potato;[4]
* International Year of Sanitation.[5]
So, like that my fellows Romanian from my neighbourhood choosen to celebrate the Year of Planet Earth…
